It’s a Mission Priority for WWA
This article originally appeared in Wisconsin Waterfowl Association’s June, 2021 Newsletter edition.
Over 36 years ago, on December 31st, 1984, WWA’s “Founding Fathers” filed Articles of Incorporation for the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association with the state of Wisconsin. WWA was founded by several hardcore waterfowlers who felt their voices were not being heard and who wanted to improve conditions and rules for Wisconsin waterfowlers. The purpose of the organization was to include work to further restore and conserve Wisconsin’s waterfowl and wetland resources. It also included implementation of educational programs that heighten the awareness of wetland and waterfowl resources and traditions and to promote legislation that protects Wisconsin’s resources and the rights of citizens to hunt and fish.
In consideration of our education purpose, WWA’s Education Committee is actively seeking our member’s input on where and how we focus our education mission. Historically, a number of programs were developed, such as youth hunter safety training, Learn to Hunt waterfowl programs, Duck and Goose calling contests, decoy carving competitions and the upcoming inaugural Waterfowl Hunter’s Expo in August, just to name a few.
There are many ideas about where we could focus our energy, but to be effective and efficient we are asking for your help in identifying where we focus and prioritize our volunteer time, energy and resources. Please contact me by phone or text at 920-660-2773 or by email at burben@netnet.net[\email] with your ideas and input. We need your help to move our education mission into the future.
We are also always looking for volunteer assistance in discussing issues and programs through our Education Committee’s framework and this is an opportunity to provide leadership in this important aspect. Individuals with time and energy to serve on this committee are needed and welcome! Our meetings are done through calls or zoom platforms at convenient times – please let me know if you are interested.
Hope to hear from you soon and your input is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for all you do for WWA.
