Like many folks, I make lists of what I want to accomplish as the new year rolls in. Here are some of my WWA lists, looking ahead at 2022, after considering the foundation we built in 2021.
WWA in 2021
Last December, I wasn’t sure how we would fare, after facing another year of pandemic uncertainty. But WOW, what an amazing year it has been. I thank you, our members and volunteers, for making the past year so special. WWA has
- Increased our habitat accomplishments in numbers and acres and nesting structures.
- Launched the game-changing Waterfowl Hunters EXPO.
- Built recognized credibility as waterfowl hunting advocates in Madison.
- Created a strong state-level committee capacity to expand mission impact.
- Strengthened our finances, thanks mostly to superb grassroots fundraising.
- Realized stronger social media and other communication subscriber growth.
- Received Better Business Bureau Accreditation – assuring donors of our sound practices.
What a great foundation of accomplishments to build on in the coming year!
WWA in 2022
We are planning for another great year at WWA, and we are excited that so many of you are playing important roles. Chapters are gearing up for new and exciting events (first one on New Year’s Day, then an Appleton banquet in February). And state level committees are working to expand their impact, even as they look for more willing hands! A preview of coming attractions: be on the lookout for:
- More and improved chapter events.
- Expanded and uniquely appealing standalone raffles.
- Continued revenue diversification, including a legacy program.
- A chapter expansion program that focuses on local waterfowl-related initiatives.
- More habitat initiatives, including the use of technology to expand our impact.
- Expanded advocacy initiatives on behalf of state waterfowlers
- New educational offerings (starting in this very e-news).
- Grant-funded R3 initiative to bring more diversity to our waterfowling ranks.
- A bigger and better EXPO (August 27th, mark calendars now!).
If you are a WWA member, you are a part of this already (But has your membership lapsed?). If a volunteer, you’re an even bigger part of it. If you want to play an even bigger role, just let me know.
Wishing you too have a great New Year!
