Becoming the Midwest’s Premier State-Based Waterfowling Organization

First, I had to do some research on what states actually constitute “the Midwest” and boast a Waterfowl Association of some sort.  And then I had to reflect on what is needed to be considered “Premier” amongst them.   But after that, it wasn’t close.

WWA is actively working to address shrinking waterfowler numbers with our educational programs.

Don’t get me wrong – this is not a competition.  But especially because waterfowl are migratory, it’s important to waterfowlers everywhere that all states focus attention on what’s happening in their state with regard to duck hunting.  I hope you’ll think that WWA is doing its part.  But there is more to be done, such as:

  • Addressing shrinking hunter numbers
  • Ensuring waterfowler perspectives are respected by state and local policy makers
  • Growing our representation within the state’s 70,000 duck hunters
  • Increasing wetland restoration on public and private lands
  • Finding more corporate partners who share our vision.

To these ends, our five mission-focused committees have developed workplans for this year to harness and focus their efforts.  We will publish them in February; they will offer our members opportunities to play rewarding roles in helping WWA remain the Midwest’s premier waterfowling association.
