As noted last month, the Governor included the long-overdue duck stamp increase into the budget he proposed, but given the state of politics in the state, the legislature is starting their own part of the budget process with a blank slate. So, WWA and the other duck groups in the state (DU, Delta, WWF) have been meeting with legislators, particularly those on the powerful Joint Finance Committee which drafts the legislative budget, to encourage their support of this small but important stamp fee issue.
To this end, and just earlier this week, WWA Board Director George Ermert and I met with the following legislative offices:
- Zimmerman (R-River Falls)
- Kurtz (R-Wonewoc)
- Rodriguez (R-Oak Creek)
- Loudenbeck (R-Chilton)
- Bernier (R-Chippewa falls)
