As members and volunteers of Wisconsin Waterfowl Association, you are in a group known as conservationists because of your advocacy and concern for the environment and wildlife in Wisconsin. Some, because of your passion for wildfowl, others because of the need for wetland habitat improvement, and still others because of youth education, just to name a few.
On April 22nd you will be joined by millions of people around the nation and the world in celebrating “Earth Day”. A day established 49 years ago through law by Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin to lend support for environmental protection and advocacy. By the end of the year in 1970, the Earth Day commitment brought rise to the creation of the US Environmental Protection Agency, passage of the Federal Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act. All because of the foresight of a Senator born and bred from right here in Wisconsin!
Nelson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of his work to establish this awareness.
On Wisconsin!!!
Earth day is an annual event celebrated on April 22nd, worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protections.

We here at WWA celebrate “Earth Day” everyday through our programs, events and activities. These conservation accomplishments at WWA could not be done without your help and support. Hundreds of acres of wetlands are improved and protected each year, hundreds of nesting structures are installed, as well as improvements to our state lands through our Adopt a Wildlife Area projects. All serving the environment and the wildlife that lives here.
Please take a few minutes out of your hectic schedule on Monday, April 22nd and congratulate yourself on a job well done last year and challenge yourself to help make Earth Day, 2020, the 50th anniversary, one to remember!
Thanks for your continued support and service to WWA!
