A project under construction by WWA in 2017, stamp funds are often used to complete habitat restoration projects like these.
The growing season is upon us and it ooks like we’ll soon have wetland restoration projects going in Waukesha, Washington, Vilas, Outagamie, Manitowoc, Juneau, Fond du Lac, Dodge, Green Lake, Marquette, St Croix and possibly a few more counties, depending on how things fall with other potential projects I’m looking at.
This is a good reminder for all of you that if you have anyone interested in having us look into a project on their property, please get me their information, or have landowners contact me, as we are in the process of permitting the ones we have scheduled for construction this year.
Later this month, a committee on WWA serves will be selecting waterfowl stamp projects for the current funding cycle. WWA has also submitted an application for these grant funds. As part of the committee, WWA submitted its rankings for all the stamp applications that were received, which will aid in the selection process. These are the projects that get funded with the stamp dollars you paid when you purchased a waterfowl stamp. If anyone is ever interested, I can get you information on where these monies are spent. This funding source was recently under attack, but WWA initiated a response, which resulted in the funding that was proposed to be pulled to be maintained, and all applications will continue to be ranked against each other, so the outside review process by conservation groups continues, which ensures credibility of how these dollars are spent.
