Tom’s April 2019 Volunteer Event Corner

I want to thank all of you who offered me your condolences on my loss of Gunner.  He was a true ambassador for WWA and will be missed.  Again, thanks for sharing your stories and your favorite memories of him with me.  They were appreciated.

Old Man Winter is still kicking our butts.  I did get a few hours last weekend to organize the storage shed.  I hear that it will get up to 50 degrees for a day or two in June, so maybe the snow will melt and I can finish up organizing and inventorying the storage shed then.  If you need an updated listing of inventory items for your banquet reach out to Kelcy at kelcy@centurytel.net and don’t forget to check over all of the forms and information available on the chapter page of the website at wisducks.org/chapter-information.

I’d like to recognize the efforts of our Green Bay and Waukesha committees, and thank all of their volunteers, for running some excellent events in March and early April.  I have numerous banquets the rest of this month and early next month, so call me if you have needs coming up as I’ll be running around quite a bit, spending much of my time unloading and loading the trailer in the next couple of weeks.

The one pattern I see emerging from our winter and early spring events is that there is not a lot of spare cash out there to be spent at our banquets so we need to be conservative in our spending.   Start looking for a meat donor or booze donor for your events as these items are draws during tough times.  Some things that can be utilized immediately seem to be attractive raffle items.  Those chapters that are running fall events should consider getting your Class A Pre-Event raffles going as soon as possible.  We are seeing good sales on certain guns, mainly pistols, so contact me in early May when my hell weeks of banquets are over.

We have several events in May & July that your WWA staff mostly runs and we could use some help in selling tickets at them.  Contact Bruce at bruceross@wi.rr.com or call me at (414.750.8260) if you can help at one of our sporting clays shoots or one of the golf outings.

Thanks again for all you do for WWA!
