Volunteerism

I have a lot of cats-and-dog issues this month, but the recurring theme is WWA volunteerism.

Do you know someone committed to the cause of waterfowling in Wisconsin? There are several opportunities to make a state-wide difference for people who are passionate about expanding the impact of WWA:

  • Board of DirectorsCall for State Board Director Nominations – We have several openings on the state Board of Directors for people who are willing to put some energy into expanding WWA’s programs around the state. Note: NOMINEES DO NOT NEED TO BE FROM CURRENT CHAPTERS!!  Working in a chapter by putting on events, conducting educational events or working on public lands under our AWA program is important and necessary work for WWA to accomplish – thanks to those who do these things!  But we also need people who can see a program that needs organizational help that can only come from the state level – we need such people at the board level.  You can nominate from this online form; you can nominate yourself, too, but let’s talk about expectations as well.  Click here for the nomination form; note: nominations will be accepted through January 12, 2021.
  • The WATERFOWL HUNTERS EXPO is looking for volunteers who want to help put on a first class off-season experience for the state’s duck hunters. You would join volunteers from Delta, Ducks Unlimited, the DNR, UW Steven’s Point, USGS, industry reps and many others to host this inaugural event, expected to draw thousands of the state’s waterfowlers.  We have the need for day-of volunteers, as well as advance assistance in areas like Fundraising, Marketing, and Programming.  Let me know if you want to play a role? Check out the brand-new FB page and follow it to stay up to date on the latest happenings. https://www.facebook.com/WaterfowlHuntersExpo.
  • WWA Hall of Fame nominations are also open, with the nomination period being extended this year until December 4th. Check out what it takes to be considered for this prestigious recognition.

We are beginning to build our WWA work plan for next year. What do you think we should be doing?  Let me know at bruceross@wi.rr.com.

We are planning our marketing efforts next year, too. Do you know any businesses that want to benefit from WWA’s marketing capability (e-news, website, mailings, banquets, Facebook and other events, including the EXPO). We have great communication channels to an energized and focused audience through which businesses can really expand their market share, especially as we move towards more e-commerce.  Businesses like:

  • Outfitters
  • Kennels and dog trainers
  • Outdoor Gear retailers and manufacturers
  • And many more

Give it a thought and let us know who we should reach out to.
