A huge THANK YOU goes out to Dr. Sarah Orlofske, Dr. Robert Jadin and their research assistants at the UW Stevens Point Parasitology lab for the tour of their facility and observation of the dissection of a ringneck duck. WWA has been supporting Dr. O’s research on scaup in the Bay of Green Bay for over three years. That work is culminating in a scientific paper being published soon  in the Journal of Parasitology. Look forward to seeing an update by Dr. O in an upcoming WWA newsletter.

This groundbreaking work at UW Stevens Point on parasites tells us about duck diet and movement and is moving toward identifying parasites that may cause death in specific waterfowl.

One of the many flatworms, roundworms, flukes etc. dissected and collected during the visit.

Dissecting is slow and tedious!
