Making the doors for the houses & kits.

You might have noticed that wood duck boxes and kits have not been available through our online store. We are happy to report that the issue has been resolved.

Assembled boxes and kits (along with assembly instructions) are once again available. Assembled boxes cost $45.00, kits cost $35.00. Shipping flat rate is $5.00 per box. Assembly instructions can be downloaded at no cost.

The assembly line

Unfortunately, the organization that cut and assembled boxes and kits for WWA informed us in early January that they would no longer be able to make boxes for us. This resulted in a scramble to identify a new source. In the interim, thanks to the help of our great WWA team, a number of volunteers gathered on a Saturday in early February to cut, wrap kits, and assemble a total of 116 kits or boxes.

Chopping the box roofs

This could not have been accomplished without a lot of planning and volunteering, starting with our Habitat Committee Chair (B.J. Grassmann) and our Executive Director driving to Laona to retrieve the wood and transporting it to Sheboygan County where the cutting, wrapping or assembly were done. In addition to the volunteers who freely gave of their time and tools, we also want to thank the local contractors (Lindsley Construction and Jordan Waldschmidt Construction) who donated the use of additional chop saws, routers, jig saws, and augers. Work started at 9:00 AM and clean-up was finished by 3:30 PM.

Making & stapling ladders

Some kits have already been distributed, but the bulk of them and the assembled boxes are now available for purchase through WWA’s online store.

Making fronts & drilling holes

WWA’s Regional Director identified a source that will continue making boxes and kits going forward, but the WWA Staff wants to thank the efforts of our volunteers that made this evolution possible, and ALL of our volunteers and members that continue to make a difference in Wisconsin’s waterfowling traditions. Thanks for helping Woodies Thrive in Wisconsin!
