Some folks have asked how my “new” dog is doing.  Tack has turned into a pretty sweet dog – we’re enjoying having this teenager around – even if his older and increasingly infirm “sister” Callie is less enthused.  He’s goofy, affectionate and a just a little bit needy.

He’s steady as a rock, still enjoys socks, and has really taken to retrieving double marks, although sometimes “points” the dummy before picking it up.  A legacy of his pointing blood?  We’ll find out when we send him for a few weeks to his dad’s own Cooperstown kennels to work with Justin VanDeHey on teasing out that pointing instinct while introducing him to handling.

Look for Justin at the Waterfowl Hunters EXPO to give all of us tips for a more enjoyable field experience with your dog. I’ll provide an update or two in his progress through that experience.
