Conserving habitat important to waterfowl and waterfowlers

Robust programs that support brood rearing are important to state waterfowlers. Wisconsin is waterfowl-breeding state, contributing large numbers of ducks and geese to the Mississippi flyway.  And most ducks harvested by state waterfowlers are hatched in the state.

Our team of ecologists restore wetlands as small as 3 acres and as large as 3,000 acres on both public and private lands.  Help us focus on the highest priority wetlands by suggesting your own or public properties.

Volunteers play a big role in our conservation programs.   They maintain local wildlife areas alongside DNR property managers, install and maintain duck nesting structures, collect wild rice and more. Join our team and get your fingernails dirty!
