By Bruce Ross, WWA Executive Director
I wanted to close out the year by recognizing three of our very significant state-wide sponsors: Russell Moccasin Company, Tactacam, and SportDOG Brand gear for our canine best buds! If you’ve attended any WWA events this year, you’ve seen them featured.
Russell Moccasin Company: Based in Berlin Wisconsin, these craftsmen put out the finest footwear in the world! Measured to your own foot, hand-stitched with custom leathers and materials, you can not buy better footwear for your hunt. I know – when I found out Joe Gonyo, Russell’s Vice President of Operations, is a duck hunter who happens to be on WWA’s Board of Directors, I ordered a pair, and he personally traced my foot and designed the boot that I wore last month in the pheasant field of North Dakota, and this month in the grouse woods of northern Wisconsin. No break-in required, tremendous support, low-key style, and a lifetime qarranty. Check them out!
Tactacam: WWA has helped Tactacam approach a waterfowling market at each event we held this year, and the attention they’ve garnered has been amazing. With good reason! With barely a thought, you can attach the cameras to your gun, bow, or other mount, and easily record, then share your hunt. Great for seeing where your shot is going on the skeet course, or capturing the excitement of a hunt with your friends or on social media. Couldn’t be easier! Thank you Tactacam for supporting our events with a product demo team that helps our attendees know what they are missing without a Tacatcam.
SportDOG Brand … my dogs have been trained using their systems for years, and I find that I seldom need to correct behavior anymore, following SportDOG’s training techniques. My dogs sit quietly in the blind, take hand signals consistently on retrieves and quarters within range in the field. I’ve hunted with friends’ dogs that, well, could use a little more of that, and SportDOG can help get them there. Pride goeth before the fall, but I admit to less-than-neighborly thoughts when my dog’s clean retrieves get compared to a neighboring hunter’s yells, gesticulations and whistles at their dog, that’s, well, a little less disciplined. Think about how much we invest in our dogs – why not use SportDOG’s training approach to make your time afield with your buddies (two-footed and four-) a little more enjoyable!
