In mid-2022, Wisconsin Waterfowl Association published our 2023 Conservation Membership Calendar and all of the decoys featured during each month of the Calendar were donated to WWA. In addition, Chase Baker, Owner of the Photography studio called Grit LLC provided all of the photos for the calendar with vintage waterfowling gear as a background. Thank you to all the Wisconsin carvers and to Chase Baker at Grit LLC for their generous donations. All of the decoys are hand carved, are one of a kind and several of our carvers are no longer offering their decoys for sale on the general market.
Here is your chance to own a piece of Floating Sculpture from some of the best decoy carvers in Wisconsin.
Decoy Auction #1 – Bidding Open Today through January 20, 2023:
Pintail Hen Decoy with Duckling by Steve Stratton
Steve began carving decoys in 1970 and was self taught. He carves both working and decorative decoys and is proud to still be duck hunting over his own decoys. Many of his decoys utilize feather burning and stoning to give soft texture to the decoy. Steve is an active competition carver and has won numerous awards for his work. Steve and his wife, Linda, reside in Appleton, WI.
The pintail decoy is hand carved in basswood with artist, acrylic paint. The primary feathers are inset and raised and all feathers are textured. This decoy looks like it is ready to swim away from danger to protect her chick.
Steve is an original Wisconsin decoy carver and this decoy would be a great addition to any collection or on any mantle.
