The Wisconsin Waterfowl Association is pleased to announce the 2024 continuation of its partnership with the Ponsse Corporation in the logistics management of WWA’s wood duck box program.

A Finnish company, Ponsse has been a pioneer in the forestry harvesting industry since 1970. Focused on providing the heavy equipment needed for cut-to-length lumber harvest, Ponsse has earned a strong reputation with Northwoods timber companies, and internationally, with the technological advancements it brings to the industry.

WWA connected with Ponsse through WWA volunteer Bart Tegen, who has been managing the wood duck box program for a couple of years now.  Bart works in logistics at Ponsse’s Rhinelander facility, and through this partnership, is able to store boxes and kits until they need delivery to purchasers or chapters.

WWA’s wood duck box program provides finished cavity nest boxes (or kits) to WWA chapters and purchasers to supplement the natural tree cavities the wood duck uses to nest.  This program can conservatively lay claim to thousands of successful hatches in Wisconsin, and contributes to a healthy wood duck population in the state and flyway.

Ponsse’s vision of “the preferred partner in responsible forestry” is a good fit with WWA.  As waterfowl hunters, we encourage our members to go beyond ethical harvest and become passionate conservationists.  Just as Ponsse provides equipment important for sustainable harvest in the worldwide timber industry.
