Waterfowl Hunters EXPO Volunteers – Thank You

One of the keys to of any non-profit effort, regardless of scope, size or topic, is the people willing to volunteer.  The inaugural Waterfowl Hunters Expo was no exception to the rule, with over 100 individuals volunteering.

When I took on the Volunteer Coordinator role for the Expo, I wasn’t entirely certain what I was taking on. I understood the challenge and I also understood the opportunity.  The opportunity to connect with individuals who have a similar passion for waterfowling and the willingness to step into the unknown of an inaugural event.

Who made up the volunteer core?

  • Several had connections to the organizations who were part of the collaborative planning effort of the Expo (Delta, DNR, Ducks Unlimited, UW-Stevens Point and Wisconsin Waterfowl Association).
  • Some came as a team – co-workers, husband/wife, Chapter connections, hunting partners, and parent/child.
  • Individuals from across the state, including Milwaukee, Rhinelander and Baraboo.

Volunteers appreciated the free hat, admission and lunch voucher, however it wasn’t why they signed up. They all arrived with great attitudes and ready to pitch-in. In the end, the volunteer effort fit the Expo needs and allowed us to connect with over 100 people.

Special Thanks to all the volunteers.  We look forward to improving the volunteer experience and connecting with more volunteers during the Waterfowl Hunters Expo 2022.
