Thanks to a two day cool down, WWA’s Green Bay Chapter volunteers were able to get out on the ice on the Abrams Project property, located in southern Oconto county, to repair, replace and clean out wood duck boxes last weekend.

24 boxes were cleaned out on the 132 acre property. Several were not able to be accessed due to thin ice.
Special thanks to Elizabeth Schwalbach with “Sisterhood Outdoors” for assisting with the cleanup. Approximately 33% of the boxes had broken wood duck eggs (one merganser egg), indicative of a successful hatch. Another 33% had assorted bird and hawk nests and several were home to owls.
It is time to repair, replace and clean out your wood duck boxes, new tenants will be here soon.
