Cellcom Receives the Jack VanSistine Conservation Award From the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association

Green Bay, WI (October 14, 2020) – Cellcom has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Jack VanSistine Conservation Award from the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association (WWA). This award is presented yearly by the Green Bay Chapter of the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association. The award is solely and individually supported by the Green Bay Chapter Committee members.
The award is presented to a local person, company or organization that has supported outstanding conservation initiatives through improved habitat, education or community service. The award is given in memory of Jack VanSistine who was instrumental in implementing WWA’s youth education effort in the Green Bay area.
“Cellcom was selected for this award for their continued support of Wisconsin Waterfowl Association’s Abrams project property. Their support has assisted WWA in providing wheelchair accessible recreation and education on the property that is used by hundreds of individuals and groups each year,” said Bruce Urben, president of WWA board of directors.
Cellcom has donated to Wisconsin Waterfowl Association through its Green Gift program, which uses funds generated from Cellcom’s cell phone recycling program to fund green nonprofit initiatives. Customers and community members can bring in their old or unwanted phones to be reused and recycled. Cellcom sends the phones to recyclers who in return send money to Cellcom for the materials that were saved from the phones. Cellcom’s Green Gift program completes the green cycle that starts with consumers being environmentally conscious and donating their devices.
“By simply recycling old devices our customers are partners in our Green Gifts program. Together we are investing in our communities and contributing to programs and projects that support sustainability and have a positive impact on the environment. Cellcom is proud to support Wisconsin Waterfowl Association and their ongoing efforts to conserve natural resources, educate youth and make outdoor resources accessible for all,” said Cindy Durand, director of public affairs at Cellcom.
