WWA Ecologist Mark Pfost surveys the site from the canoe

WWA ecologists Mark and Anna headed out to Waushara County last week. Mark had visited the site previously, and knew that with the acreage and size of the ditches, surveying on foot would not be easy. So this time, they brought a canoe along.

There’s no getting around wading through water and muck, but canoeing the ditches made for a much more efficient survey! With the survey data, we can now get a better understanding of water movement across the site and ditch volumes to understand what restoration options here might look like. Stay tuned…
